Advanced Orthognathic Fellowship

Calgary, AB

Proud Sponsor

This one year program provides a comprehensive educational experience, combining clinical practice with research to enhance skills in diagnosing and managing complex craniofacial conditions. Fellows will participate in custom orthognathic cases, honing their skills and expertise in this specialized field.

Cases are planned with VSP and completed with custom surgical guides, custom plating and custom patient specific implants. Nearly all faculty have fellowship training in orthognathic.

Primary Focus

Approximately one hundred and sixty orthognathic reconstructions are performed by our teaching faculty per year, in both teaching hospitals and private surgical facilities.

It will be the expectation that the fellow acts as a clinician in the roles of the surgeon and/or the first assistant in reconstructive orthognathic cases. The fellow will be involved in treatment planning and virtual and digital surgical planning for patients undergoing orthognathic surgery.

Secondary Focus

Will include complicated maxillofacial jaw reconstruction, obstructive sleep apnea surgery, temporomandibular arthroplasty (TMJ), pre-prosthetic surgery and oral and maxillofacial pathology/oral cancer.
